Welcome to fostering in St.Helens
Welcome to the new website for St.Helens Council Fostering Service. We hope that the information provided will help you to make an informed decision about becoming a foster carer.
By approaching fostering with a 'can do' attitude, we're aiming to show people that fostering is accessible to all, and can fit into normal, busy lives.
We recently obtained a very positive report from Ofsted, who
rated us as 'Good' overall, with four out of six areas deemed
'Outstanding'. This is a reflection of the excellent levels of
support we provide to our carers and the children and young
people in our care. We now want to build on this success by ensuring that fostering is accessible to all.
We want to let prospective carers like you know that we are able to provide flexible support, including nursery places; help with transporting children to school and flexible meeting times, which can all help to make families realise their fostering ambitions.
We're encouraging people in St.Helens to give something back to their community, and provide a caring, stable home for a local child in need. We want to send out the message that fostering is a community-based service, and by fostering a child you are not only helping that child, but their family and their extended family; providing a valuable life experience for your family and also creating a positive and lasting impact on the community as a whole.
We hope that our shift in thinking will encourage prospective foster carers to do the same. We value our carers extremely highly, and therefore ensure that we reward them accordingly through support, generous allowances, social groups and much more.
