Support
We believe that our support package is what makes us shine! We know the demands of caring inside out, and know that providing high levels of support enables our carers to do their job effectively.
Additional support. During school holidays, our support workers will assist you to identify local activities and arrange events for sons and daughters of carers.
Equipment. We always ensure that our carers are fully equipped to care for a child, and we will supply you with all of the equipment that you will need. This may include; car seats, prams, bedroom furniture, bedding, stair gates and fireguards for example.
Support groups. These groups offer carers the chance to get together and socialise with other carers, discuss strategies and experiences or just spend time with like-minded people. We offer regular coffee mornings, a group for sons and daughters of foster carers, and a men's group specifically for our male carers.
A dedicated website. Our fostering site features a wealth of useful resources, including links to national fostering websites. The site acts as a first port of call for information for both existing carers and potential new carers.
An allocated supervising social worker. Each foster carer has their own allocated supervising social worker (SSW). Based in Atlas House in the town centre, your SSW is on hand to offer you support and guidance. As a foster carer, you will build up a strong relationship with your SSW and work very closely with them.
Membership of The Fostering Network. All of our foster carers are given automatic membership of The Fostering Network, a UK leading fostering charity which offers an extensive package of support to foster carers.
In-house emergency support line. We have a dedicated team of social workers on hand to assist you 24 hours a day.
